Plein-air study on location at Dutton Island, Jacksonville. FL
The photos show this painting at different stages.
The plein air set up with umbrella this cuts down the light on the canvas. It can be easy to paint too dark outdoors because there is so much light. When you get the painting inside they look like mud, the umbrella helps cut out some light. Remember to paint a little bit lighter than you see when painting “plein air”.
