Dealers, Collectors and Art Lovers

The common qualities of dealer’s, collector’s and art lovers!

*          an absolute love and passion for art and the artistic process

*          a discerning eye

*          a desire that the artist’s work be shared

*          the dedicated collector supports the artists with unparalleled commitment

Recently a group of artists from St Augustine received a very special invite to plein air paint at an amazing property. The location was breathtaking, with 360° panoramic sun decks wrapping around the house, all with amazing views! Each view of the marsh was unique as we were elevated, looking down into the marsh – usually I find remote locations but they are almost always at eye level.

This experience was way too much excitement for one day – there were so many unique views to take in. How do you capture the majesty of the marsh? I always feel so in amazed, at the awesomeness of it all.

Frankly….I was a little disappointed with the en plein air work I produced that day. This often happens when trying for a finished painting. So feeling that the results of my excursion were rather inadequate – this painting malarkey always keeps you humble – returned to the studio and the marsh a few more times for more inspiration.

Here are some small studies “Crazy Fun” and “Signals Breaking Up” that were painted during the melt down phase! However, these paintings somehow set the nervous energy for others, which captured the essence of what I wanted to say.

You may not always get what you want on location all the time, but it takes time to persevere. Now I kind of like these crazy little paintings, I call them mental notes, and now I’m thrilled about them.

Heard someone say this “If you’re poor, you’re CRAZY if you’re rich, you’re ECCENTRIC!!!” ….. (It was one of the million dollar decorators!)

So as a self-diagnosed crazy, I’m positively looking forward to graduating to eccentric any day now. LOL

* so there’s another common quality of the dealer, collector and art lover they understand each other being crazy eccentric – – about ART!
