Pentimento Pink Champagne

Painting is far, from a relaxing pink champagne affair… its like a form of  torture sometimes. With each painting you have to say something, there’s a spark and if there isn’t, you have to have the guts to change it or turn it on its head. So these two new paintings are over two that didn’t make it. As a result you have a shine through a pentimento.

“A pentimento (plural pentimenti) is an alteration in a painting, evidenced by traces of previous work, showing that the artist has changed his or her mind as to the composition during the process of painting. The word is Italian for repentance, from the verb pentirsi, meaning to repent.”

The magic happens when something shows through, it is up to the artist to see it,and keep it or leave it and move on. When it happens it ignites a painting. These are the moments to paint for!
