Scenic…Cape Cod” – A New Chapter in a Beloved Landscape

Exhibition on view May 10 – July 1, 2025

Opening Reception: Saturday, May 10, 5–7pm

“Coastal Connection” 36×60, Oil Painting by Claire J Kendrick

There’s something deeply evocative about Cape Cod—the hush of vast marshes, the shimmer of light on tidal pools, the wind sweeping across weather-worn dunes. This May, I’m honored to be one of the featured artists in Scenic…Cape Cod, a new spring show hosted at a beautifully expansive gallery space that’s ideally suited for large-scale works like mine.

While I won’t be able to attend the opening in person, I’d love for you to visit the exhibition and join the reception on Saturday, May 10 from 5–7pm. It promises to be a rich celebration of Cape Cod’s beauty, captured through the eyes of ten remarkable artists: Robert Bolster, Sam Vokey, James Wolford, Antonia Tyz Peeples, Tom Upson, Rosalie Nadeau, Rick Fleury, George Angelini, Leonard Mizerek—and myself, Claire Kendrick.

(Photos and Inspiration from visits to the Cape)

Cape Cod holds a special place in my story. Years ago, I was awarded a residency that allowed me to live and paint in one of the historic Dune Shacks on the Outer Cape. The solitude, the light, the connection to place—it all left a lasting impression. I’ll be sharing photos from that experience, as well as visits with close friends and painters who’ve inspired me along the way.

Early in my career, I was deeply influenced by artists working in the Cape, especially Anne and Cynthia Packard. Working with both these artists—their fearless, expressive approach—left a mark on me that I carry to this day. It’s humbling now to be exhibiting in a region that has shaped so much of my creative voice.

As I continue building relationships in this market, I’m thrilled to be included in this thoughtful and beautifully curated show.

Let the landscapes speak—and come see how each of us has translated the Cape’s wild, poetic beauty into paint.
