Human Figure Painting Awarded 2nd Place at the STAAA

Many thanks to the St. Augustine Art Association and judge Sarah Pedigo for the award given to my painting “iPhone” oil paint with oil pastel. The St. Augustine Art Association presents Go Figure. Interpretations of the human form lend personality to this juried exhibit of gesture drawings, anatomy studies, formal portraits, statuary and figures in the landscape and interiors. The Association also host an open studio on Monday evenings, for artists who are interested in working on interpretations of the human form.

Much gratitude to all the volunteers who curated this beautiful exhibition. It was great to see such talented artists participating, the show runs through May 28th, 2017

Seeing Anew

12×12 | Available through CJK-Studio | Oil and Oil Pastel

Claire J Kendrick is an artist whose paintings reflect Florida landscapes with bold, rich, beautiful colors. Collectors respond to the contemporary style and the expressive way in which she paints. The big open vistas and the marsh views that stretch for miles are some of her favorite subjects to paint.

“This is a hot climate and colorful coast it’s a joy to live here. I love the expanse of the marshlands, the big cloudscapes, the scenery is dramatic and I try to express that in my paintings. When you’re out painting in these isolated places it feels like you have the world to yourself. The subtle shifts of light can in a moment calm or energize the environment. The paintings on exhibition are color sensations, passionate responses, and magical experiences.”

Top Tip – I use Sennelier Oil Pastels Standard – Portrait Colors and Landscape Colors

“Sennelier Oil Pastels are made from the highest quality pigments, an extremely pure synthetic binding medium, and neutral pH mineral wax. The non-siccative nature of the binding medium ensures it will not oxidize and has no effect on film stability, while the mineral wax gives the pastels their creamy, buttery texture not unlike that of lipstick. The high pigment load in Sennelier Oil Pastels provides them with an opacity and covering power.”  –  ASW
