Pink Love
15″ x 30″| Encaustic | In studio Please see detail zoom photographs of the painting.
White Love
30″ x 30″ | Encaustic | In studio This was painted on an ampersand encaustic board, and I love working on these panels. If the wax flares into flame there is less danger of burning. Below detail photographs of the painting.
Underwater Love
20″ x 20″ | Encaustic | In studio We have had a week of rainfall with Topical Storm Debbie so I have been forced to work in the studio. This painting is a combination of oil paint and wax. If there is a dry spell I take the painting outside and fire up the blow torch, and fling a few flames and continue painting. I have worked up three paintings over time letting them dry and reworking in layers! This
Take Flight
48″ x 48″ | Encaustic | Worley Faver Gallery This painting titled “Take Flight” “Lean forward into your life…catch the best bits and the finest wind. Just tip your feathers in flight a wee bit and see how dramatically that small lean can change your life.” ― Mary Anne Radmacher
Miles of Beach
30″ x 48″ | Oil Encaustic on canvas | In studio Painting inspired by small beach studies done on location in Cape Cod, MA. Oil paint mixed with wax and brought outside, with a blow torch melt heavy layers of paint being careful not to burn areas. Try to control the flame while the melting paint is out of control just keep moving the canvas. The effects can be wonderfully free. I recommend ampersand encaustic board it is a more
Cape Shore Breeze
30″ x 40″ | Oil on linen | In studio Working on a large scale painting outdoors and in sandy conditions can be a challenge but is also a rewarding experience. This seascape was painted on location in Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA. For me, the exact likeness was not as important as capturing the “feel” of the place. Below a detail picture of the painting!
Spring Morning at the Marsh
Studio Painting with inspiration taken from smaller field study painted en plein air. 48″ x 48″ | Oil on Canvas | Worley Faver Gallery, St Augustine. FL
Jacksonville Marsh Land
Plein-air study on location at Dutton Island, Jacksonville. FL The photos show this painting at different stages. The plein air set up with umbrella this cuts down the light on the canvas. It can be easy to paint too dark outdoors because there is so much light. When you get the painting inside they look like mud, the umbrella helps cut out some light. Remember to paint a little bit lighter than you see when painting “plein air”. 12″ x
