Underwater Love

20″ x 20″ | Encaustic | In studio We have had a week of rainfall with Topical Storm Debbie so I have been forced to work in the studio. This painting is a combination of oil paint and wax. If there is a dry spell I take the painting outside and fire up the blow torch, and fling a few flames and continue painting. Miles of Beach

30″ x 48″ | Oil Encaustic on canvas | In studio Painting inspired by small beach studies done on location in Cape Cod, MA. Oil paint mixed with wax and brought outside, with a blow torch melt heavy layers of paint being careful not to burn areas. Cape Shore Breeze

30″ x 40″ | Oil on linen | In studio Working on a large scale painting outdoors and in sandy conditions can be a challenge but is also a rewarding experience. This seascape was painted on location in Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA. For me, the exact likeness was not as important as capturing the “feel” of the place. Below a detail picture of the painting!
